6D – Bivariate (scatter) Plots

Bivariate (scatter) Plots using BMDP Statistical Software Program 6D

6D plots one variable against another and calculates the correlation, p-value, and equation for the line of best fit. Group membership can be identified within a single frame or data for each group can be plotted separately.

  • Means, std. deviations, correlation, equation for simple linear regression (y on x), the residual mean square, and sample size.
  • Subpopulations can be identified within a single frame with different symbols and/or different colors or displayed separately.
  • Functions or smoothers can be fit to the data: linear (line-of-best-fit), quadratic, cubic, linear or quadratic LOWESS smoothers, or points along the   x-axis can be connected point-to point or by step functions y then x or xthen y.
